OnePlus Z to have Snapdragon 765
The OnePlus Z would be the missing link in the organization’s early 2020 roster since it ought to be the model to try and alleviate the price hikes undergone with the launch of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Guru. According to the latest mumblings on the matter, it must see the light of day in July.
Nowadays, a new rumor claims the OnePlus Z is going to likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 chipset, rather than the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L, as indicated countless times before.
On first blush, that seems to be an instance of a few leakers getting things wrong, but there’s an alternate explanation. So bear with us as we enter unconfirmed speculation land.
Imagine if the delay in the launch of this Z is connected to the SoC alternative? Imagine if initially the OnePlus Z was supposed to launch alongside the 8 and 8 Guru, together with all the Dimensity chipset, but in the meantime, Qualcomm touch base with OnePlus and left it”an offer it can not deny” for the 765?
In the end, OnePlus has only been using Qualcomm chips because it was founded, and its close collaboration with Qualcomm’s engineers is aimed at virtually every event or press briefing. So could Qualcomm simply accept that the firm it was an exclusive supplier to would just change course? Not.
And when that is true, then it describes the delay, as the telephone would have been designed around one processor, and now needs to house another one. All that work could take a couple of months.
The unfortunate thing here is that the Dimensity 1000 and 1000L appear to be more powerful chips compared to the Snapdragon 765, let’s trust that OnePlus’ applications optimizations will ensure that the Z will not feel significantly slower than an 8 or 8 Pro.
As always, take all of this with a great serving of salt, as it’s all unconfirmed right now.
